Joint venture will work with USACE districts to analyze dams, levees and flood control structures and facilitate corrective actions.
HNTB-Kleinfelder, a joint venture between HNTB and Kleinfelder, has announced that the Kansas City District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, on behalf of the Risk Management Center (RMC), has awarded the venture an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for specialized architect-engineer support of its dam and levee safety programs. The five-year agreement has a contract value of $6 million.
“The synergies created by uniting the two firms ultimately made our joint venture the highest qualified in this very competitive source selection process,” says Anthony Zuena, senior vice president and water market manager at Kleinfelder. “On one hand, HNTB has a long-standing relationship with the Kansas City District as well as a long history of levee and flood management project success. On the other, Kleinfelder brings extensive dam design and risk methodology experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other federal agencies to the table, as well as an existing relationship with the Risk Management Center.”
“Flooding is the biggest natural threat to Americans’ homes and property,” says Tom Poer, associate vice president and flood risk management director at HNTB Corp. “We’re excited to be working with the Corps and the professionals at Kleinfelder to help evaluate risk for the nation’s critical dams and levee systems.”
Acting as an extension of the RMC, the HNTB-Kleinfelder joint venture will be responsible for conducting analysis of dams, levees and flood control structures based on risk of failure and will work with USACE districts across the nation to facilitate the process of any necessary corrective actions.
