Great Lakes Towing Delivers Tanks for American International Line

Six tanks recently arrived in Alpena, Mich., on M/V Copenhagen.

The Great Lakes Towing Co. has delivered six FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastics) tanks to Alpena, Mich., for American International Line.

The tanks, shipped aboard the M/V Copenhagen, originally sailed from India, arriving at the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority Dock Oct. 23, 2012. From there, Great Lakes Towing Co. towed the barge from Cleveland to Alpena, where the tanks were delivered to Lafarge Corp.

The Great Lakes Towing Co., which operates a fleet of tugs on the Great Lakes, serves 40 ports. The company has been in business for more 114 years. The company’s services include ship assist, logistics and cargo transportation, ice breaking and emergency assistance.
